About Dr. Daniel Farrugia

Daniel J Farrugia, MD PhD FACS, is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is the founder and Medical Director of BodyLuxe in Chicago. He is a surgeon-scientist: alongside his clinical training he earned a PhD in biomedical sciences from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, where his doctoral research examined the influence of inherited mutations on BRCA2 gene function.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Malta and completed a general-surgery internship at the Mayo Clinic, surgical residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine, and a subspecialty fellowship in breast surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Farrugia has performed several thousand body-contouring procedures and previously served as the lead surgeon at the Chicago practice later known as AirSculpt, where he trained other surgeons in awake, minimally invasive techniques. His approach centers on careful candidacy assessment, surgical judgment, and an unhurried, single-surgeon model of care: “We listen. If it matters to you, it matters to us.”
